Bolton Road Reconstruction - Vernon, CT
Bolton Road was included in the Town of Vernon's “2005 Roadway Reconstruction Program.” It is classified as a rural collector road, connecting the center of Vernon with the Town of Bolton and is a direct link between Interstate 84 and Connecticut Route 44.
The pavement on Bolton Road was badly deteriorated. Cardinal conducted a pavement analysis program to evaluate the condition of the pavement and to design a new pavement section. Full depth pavement reconstruction was implemented. A new storm drainage system with underdrains was installed in conjunction with improvements to the roadway cross section and vertical alignment.
Cardinal Engineering provided all engineering services for this project including survey, design, subsurface exploration, pavement design, hydrologic and hydraulic analysis, obtaining environmental permits, and the preparation of easement and taking maps.
Cardinal also provided full time Resident Engineering services and Contract Administration services for this project. This project included the realignment of the intersection of Bolton Road and Reservoir Road to bring it into compliance with AASHTO standards.
