Replacement of Reservoir Road Bridge - Killingworth, CT
This project consisted of the replacement of an existing bridge found to be structurally and hydraulically inadequate. The existing double barrel corrugated metal arch bridge will be replaced with a double 10x6 box culvert. The design included structural type studies, subsurface investigations, scour analysis, hydrologic and hydraulic analysis, the preparation of property taking maps and environmental permitting.
Water surface profiles and floodway analysis, utilizing HECRAS was required. Cardinal Engineering obtained a Flood Management Certification from the State Department of Environmental Protection as well as Army Corps of Engineers and Local inland Wetland permits. This project was funded under the Federal Local Bridge Program.
The design for this project was completed in 2007 and the construction was completed in the fall of 2009.
