Regan Road Reconstruction - Vernon, CT
Regan Road was included in the Town of Vernon's “2005 Roadway Reconstruction Program.” It is classified as a suburban collector road passing through a residential neighborhood.
The pavement on Regan Road was badly deteriorated due to substandard pavement structure. Based on the information gathered during our project wide Pavement Analysis Program a new pavement section was designed. The existing pavement and base were reclaimed where possible and in some areas full depth reconstruction was necessary.
To improve roadway drainage and to eliminate street flooding a new storm drainage system and improvements to roadway cross sections was designed and constructed. Roadway geometry was also a consideration on this project. In some areas sharp horizontal and vertical curves were modified to improve site distance requirements. Safety improvements included guide rail additions or replacement where necessary and the installation of pedestrian ramps and crosswalk striping at all intersections. New concrete sidewalks with granite curbing were designed and constructed throughout.
Cardinal provided full-time Resident Engineering and Contract Administration services for this project. The Engineering services included survey, design, subsurface exploration, hydrologic and hydraulic analysis, obtaining environmental permits, and the preparation of easement and taking maps.
