Sanitary Sewer Extension - Torrington, CT

Highland Avenue Sanitary Sewer Project

This project involved the design of approximately 4,000 linear feet of sanitary sewers to replace a hydraulically inadequate interceptor sewer to open the western portion of the City to development. Cardinal Engineering prepared a preliminary engineering study to determine sanitary sewage flow rates for this undeveloped area of over one square mile and prepared final design plans and specifications, contract administration and resident engineering services for this project.

East Main Street Sewer Replacement Project

This project involved the design of 2,000 linear feet of sanitary interceptor sewers in the central business district to eliminate sanitary sewer overflows due to inadequately sized sanitary sewers. East Main Street (Connecticut Route 4 and 202) is a heavily traveled urban arterial roadway with an interchange at Route 8. Therefore, maintenance of traffic during construction was a major consideration in the design. Several alternate routes were evaluated to minimize traffic impacts.

Cardinal Engineering also provided contract administration and resident engineering services.

New Harwinton Road Sewer Replacement Project

This project involved the design of 4,000 linear feet of sanitary interceptor sewers along a heavily traveled urban arterial roadway (Connecticut Route 202) to eliminate sanitary sewer overflows due to inadequately sized sanitary sewers. The project included preliminary engineering studies to estimate the design for sewage flow based on population growth, development, future extensions to neighboring towns, and reductions in inflow and infiltration. Cardinal provided contract administration and full-time resident engineering services.

Jordan Lane and Marshall Road Sanitary Sewer Extension Project

For this project, Cardinal Engineering developed final plans, specifications and bidding documents for a 12,000 linear foot sanitary sewer extension. Cardinal also provided resident engineering services for this project.

Perkins Street/Oakbrook Lane Sewer Project

This project involved the design of 1,500 linear feet of sewers to eliminate a pump station. Cardinal Engineering provided design, contract administration and resident engineering services for this project.
